Availability principle

Introduction

ZorgDomein connects healthcare professionals in a smart way. The exchange of information that comes with this is governed by ZorgDomein’s Availability Principle. This reference document explains what the Availability Principle entails.

Information exchange

When you use ZorgDomein, you exchange information. This exchange typically starts with transferring data from your own information system (XIS data) to ZorgDomein. ZorgDomein then uses this XIS data to populate the documents that belong to the chosen healthcare product. Before finalising these documents, you can adjust and supplement them as needed. The finalised documents are then made available by ZorgDomein to one or more healthcare professionals (a “cluster”) at the healthcare institution associated with the chosen healthcare product.

Availability principle

ZorgDomein makes these documents available according to the Availability Principle. This principle consists of a number of basic rules that govern data exchange for ZorgDomein users:

• A document on ZorgDomein will remain available for as long as it is relevant to the functionality it is part of. This is referred to as the retention period. The applicable retention period can be found on our website.
• An authorised user* can perform the following actions on an available document in ZorgDomein:
  • View the document
  • Print the document
  • Download the document
• The moment a document first becomes available to the recipient, it receives definitive status and can no longer be modified. It is the sender who determines this moment.
• As a supplement to the Availability Principle, ZorgDomein strives to enable both sender and recipient to keep their own information system up to date as a source system. For this reason, it is also possible to have documents delivered to your own information system. ZorgDomein applies the Delivery Principle for this purpose.

* ZorgDomein uses an advanced authorisation mechanism to determine whether a user has access to a document.
